A new Head Coach

We are very proud to announce a new Head Coach of FIEDERBALL IZEG for the new season.

The 40 years aged Maurice Niesner, native from Wolfsburg (Germany), where he started his badminton career as child at the club of VFL Wolfsburg and a former German Premier League (1. Bundesliga) badminton player, has decided to leave his actual domicile Hamburg to join the Luxembourgish Badminton community.

Maurice played, with small interruptions, between 1996 and 2017 in the German Premier League, majorly for the BV Gifhorn. Maurice best international ranking was in 2009, where he was number 60 in men’s double. One of the most important successes, beside a lot of national and international titles, was for the title of world champion in mixed doubles over 35 in 2013. You can review all the successes on his WIKIPEDIA page.

Badminton trainer since more than b, he is today holder of a DOSB A-Trainer license. In 2009, Maurice created his own badminton school, and worked for different state association, as Niedersachsen and Hamburg. The last 1 ½ years he was engaged as assistant coach at the performance center in Hamburg, responsible for the youth players.

Beside his engagement for FIEDERBALL IZEG, Maurice will also support the Luxembourgish Badminton Federation (FELUBA) and assist the national technical director Frédéric Mawet with the U15/U17 categories, where he will also be in touch with some of our national squad players.

Maurice was so friendly to respond to the following 2 questions:

FBI: How did it come that you join the badminton club of FIEDERBALL IZEG ?
Maurice: Based on the intensive discussions with the president of the club, Xavier Laubi, as well as the interesting development project of the FELUBA, I was more than pleased to get the possibility to join the Luxembourgish badminton sport and take the duty of Head Coach for FIEDERBALL IZEG

FBI: What are your expectations and goals with our club for the next years?
Maurice: The main goal is to improve the good existing structure and conditions of the badminton in Luxembourg with my experience. Very important for me is to help the young players to make the next step in their competence and so increase the overall badminton level in Luxembourg, together with a strong club as FIEDERBALL IZEG.

The complete trainer staff, composed by Christopher Miller and Gilles Wagner (who have successfully acquired the C trainer certification last year), May Chu, Fernand Hengen, Philippe Hengen, Vito Perfido and Xavier Laubi, is looking forward to a successful season for FIEDERBALL IZEG.
